Es despla\u00e7a mitjan\u00e7ant una ondulaci\u00f3 progressiva dels plecs laterals del mantell, encara que tamb\u00e9 expulsant aire, sistema que li procura una fugida r\u00e0pida quan es veu atacada per algun depredador. La seua dieta preferida s\u00f3n crancs, gambes i peixos petits, que mastega mitjan\u00e7ant un bec triturador, que tamb\u00e9 usa com a \u00faltima defensa. Poden imitar el color del fons, generar un estampat m\u00f2bil que es despla\u00e7a en direcci\u00f3 contr\u00e0ria al seu moviment, desorientant als seus perseguidors, o fins i tot simular ulls a l&#8217;esquena, adquirint un aspecte molt m\u00e9s amena\u00e7ador que el real.<\/p>\n<p>La s\u00e9pia posseeix un os intern molt por\u00f3s, fet de carbonat c\u00e0lcic, que est\u00e0 integrat en el seu sistema natatori.
